Long Range Radio

HAMO Maschinenbau GmbH advises and supports you in cooperation with soft-hard-ware - Ing. Johann Margreiter in the implementation of the innovative radio technology Long Range for a cost-effective and secure data transmission in your business.

Long Range radio (also called LoRa radio or LoRaWAN) offers innovative advantages to many companies and businesses thanks to its large transmission range and is particularly energy-efficient and cost-saving. If you would like advice on installing or converting to Long Range Radio in your company, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Advantages of Long Range Radio:

SECURE

All data transmitted via Long Range radio is secured with end-to-end encryption.

ENERGY EFFICIENT

Long Range sensors are powered by batteries, with a particularly long lifetime, and show very low energy consumption compared to other technologies.

COST-SAVING

Thanks to the simple installation of hardware and software and the low maintenance required, Long Range technology saves time and, above all, money.

What is Long Range radio?

Long Range is a radio and transmission technology with a particularly large radio range, even through large buildings and walls. This technology was developed specifically for the requirements of the "Internet of Things (IoT)", i.e. for exchanging and linking data with other devices and systems. Long range radio (also called LoRa radio or LoRaWAN) is particularly suitable for the energy-efficient and secure transmission of data.

A single LoRa gateway can cover an entire company site without having to lay meters of cable. Compared to WiFi or Bluetooth, this radio technology scores with its enormous radio range of approx. 15 kilometers in open spaces and approx. 2 kilometers in urban areas. Long-range radio can cover an entire building with up to seven floors, whereas WLAN, for example, reaches its limits just one floor higher or lower.

Areas of application for Long Range Radio (LoRaWAN):

Long Range Radio is particularly suitable for the transmission of data in the following areas

  • for public infrastructure
  • Parking Smart City
  • for intelligent meter systems e.g. electricity meters (smart metering)
  • building management
  • Industry and production
  • agriculture
  • Transmission of meteorological data

Precise groundwater monitoring with LoRaWAN:

  • Groundwater monitoring using LoRaWAN level measurement is particularly precise, energy-saving and cost-effective.
  • Piezoresistive pressure transmitters monitor levels to within a few millimeters. Applications include groundwater level monitoring, tank filling, flow measurement at weirs, pipe burst monitoring in district heating pipeline systems, etc.
  • The integrated temperature sensor simultaneously measures the temperature of the liquid in a temperature range from -20°C to +50°C.
  • Thanks to the energy-saving system architecture (LoRa node UD1 with connected level probe), multi-year battery runtimes are achievable, even with frequent measurement and transmission intervals.
